Advanced Practice Provider 

Position Overview

As part of the Allies healthcare staff, the CRNP/PA-C is responsible for ensuring that our patients receive care that is respectful, understandable, and individualized. As such, the Nurse Practitioner/Physician Assistant will examine, diagnose, and treat patients with acute health care concerns and maintenance of overall health, work closely with other Medical Providers to establish and deliver standards of patient service, forge ongoing relationships with patients, ensure that regulatory guidelines are being followed, and be an advocate for ALLIES’ mission. The Nurse Practitioner/Physician Assistant will work collaboratively with other clinic staff, agency staff, and outside organizations

To improve health and well-being, ALLIES provides integrated medical care, supportive human services, and community-based education for individuals living with, or at risk of HIV, hepatitis, and sexually transmitted infections. Allies clinic supports this mission by providing Primary care, Gender affirming care, Gynecological care, PEP and PrEP services.

Responsibilities

  • Demonstrate knowledge and understanding of the population we serve.
  • Examine patients to assess general physical condition
  • Analyze and interpret patients' histories, symptoms, physical findings, and diagnostic information to develop appropriate diagnoses
  • Order, perform and interpret results and develop an individualized treatment plan
  • Conduct minor procedures such as cryotherapy, pap smears, Nexplanon, and IUD insertion and removals.
  • Educate patients about self-management of acute or chronic illnesses, tailoring instructions to patients' individual circumstances
  • Consult with or refer patients to appropriate specialists when conditions exceed the scope of practice or expertise.
  • Maintain departmental policies and procedures in areas such as safety and infection control
  • Keep abreast of regulatory processes and payer systems such as Medicare, Medicaid, managed care, and private sources
  • Provide feedback to improve clinic services
  • Improve professional knowledge by remaining aware of new regulations and best practices; participating in educational opportunities; reading professional publications; maintaining personal networks; participating in professional organizations

Job Requirements

Knowledge Skills and Abilities

Through a combination of experience and education, the CRNP/PA-C will have:

  • Significant knowledge and understanding of HIV care, Primary care, Gender affirming care, Gynecological care, Contraception care management, STI testing and treatment, PEP and PrEP services.
  • Utilization of electronic health record software for patient demographics, medical care, and scheduling
  • Coordination of care with specialists and agencies
  • Maintain safe work environment including the use of personal protective equipment (PPE)
  • Very strong interpersonal skills, with the ability to establish and maintain relationships with patients, co-workers, visitors, and non-agency representatives
  • Strong oral and written communications skills
  • Strong customer service skills with the ability to work with diverse groups and special populations
  • Contributing to an organization’s growth and/or initiative involving significant change
  • Ability to prioritize between multiple tasks and responsibilities

Education & Experience

Qualifications: CRNP

  • Education: Master of Science in Nursing (MSN) from an accredited program with a focus on Acute Care, Primary Care, or Adult-Gerontology Primary Care
  • Licensure: Current RN, Nurse Practitioner License and CPR certification required
  • Eligible for licensure in the state of Pennsylvania.
  • Certification: National certification as a Nurse Practitioner from a recognized organization; the American Nurses Credentialing Center (ANCC) or American Academy of Nurse Practitioners (AANP).
  • Current CPR certification is required
    • A minimum of 2 years working in a clinical setting providing direct patient care.

Qualifications: PA-C

  • Education: A graduate of a Physician Assistant program accredited by the Accreditation Review Commission on Education for the Physician Assistant (ARC-PA) is required with a focus on Acute Care, Primary Care, or Adult-Gerontology Primary Care
  • BS or MS candidate is preferred
  • Current state PA license certified by the National Commission on Certification of Physician Assistants (NCCPA) is required
  • Current CPR certification is required
  • A minimum of 2 years working in a clinical setting providing direct patient care.

The Nurse Practitioner/Physician Assistant may be called upon to engage in physical activity related to general office work to stand or sit for extended periods. Current PA child abuse, PA criminal history, Federal criminal history clearances, and verification of TB test performed within the last year are required within the first 30 days of employment.

The designated budget for the Advanced Practice Provider position is between $105K and $115K with distinctions made for education and direct service experience with client populations similar to Allies’.
