Allies for Health + Wellbeing is pleased to present “Night of a Thousand Divas: The 2024 Free for All.”

In 2021, Allies introduced the Free for All, a unique approach to inclusion at its signature event, the Allies Ball. With generous underwriting from sponsors, the Free for All offered a safe, festive environment accessible to all, regardless of financial circumstances. The Free for All allowed us to offer greater community access to our annual celebration of service and support, with performances, food, and a place to recognize the organizations that had supported us through the year.

For 2024, we are excited to announce that the Free for All is expanding to include more performances, greater food and drink offerings and the fun signature shared by all our prior events, with the goal of celebrating a year of landmark fundraising for Allies for Health + Wellbeing. Instead of hosting the Free for All in tandem with the Allies Ball gala, this year, the Allies Ball is the Free for All.

As the main event for our 2024 gathering, the Free for All includes a paired dinner for donors and financial supporters. Donors who support the event, which is the final flourish to a year of fundraising, will have access to a club house lounge built in the Children’s Museum, complete with cocktail reception, refreshments, and dinner in one of four fully designed dining rooms.

During the event, we also will be celebrating our 2024 Kerry Stoner Award recipient and our 2024 constellation of Bright Young People. The Kerry Stoner Award is presented annually by Allies for Health + Wellbeing to someone who has shown commitment to Stoner’s legacy and vision. Stoner was one of the founders of the Pittsburgh AIDS Task Force and died of complications of AIDS in 1993. Now in its third year, Allies’ Bright Young People program recognizes people who are making a real and tangible difference in our community and working toward a bright future, particularly in the realm of diversity, equity and inclusion. The Bright Young People are making their mark through their art, their careers and their activism.

The theme for the event cites an old drag bar convention – “Night of a Thousand Divas.” Rather than selecting Britney, Dolly, Madonna, Cher or Aretha, we challenge our guests to define and portray their own historic or fictional diva. This classic party trick turns the focus from our work to the support of the guests, who are called on to shine and create their own unforgettable evening. We call on all divas to wield their powers and celebrate nearly 40 years of effort to bring necessary health care and support to communities in need.

On May 3, 2024, Allies for Health and Wellbeing invites you to let your inner diva shine, join the cause, and support a year of incredible fundraising and community service.
